Picked Out A Wedding Dress!! February 20, 2009

Filed under: Bridal Attire,Thoughts Of The Day — The Lady Larkin @ 5:21 AM

For the past three months, I think I must have tried on about one hundred bridal gowns. During this tedious process, I always went back to one particular dress. This dress had a special something about it. It was a dress that had captured my heart and attention and I could not possibly get this dress out of my head. That was… until today. Here is one of the most ironic and ‘meant to be’ stories that has ever happened to me.

This morning, I walked into ‘Robyn Lynn’s Bridal Shop’ with the intention of buying this dress… We’ll just call it ‘Dress A’. I took a picture outside the store, announced that I was buying my wedding dress to everyone in the store, and tried it on one last time before I would buy it. Then, a photographer/ journalist from a local newspaper walks in and would like to write an article on entreprenuers/ small businesses in Lakeland. Therefore, he asked if I would like to pose as a bride with the owner of the store. Who are you kidding… Of course I would!! I was thrilled!! But, I needed to change dresses in order for my future husband not to see me in my wedding gown in the newspaper. So… my mom pulls a wedding gown off the rack in my size for me to try it on for the picture. I walked out of the dressing room and took pictures in this wedding gown for the newspaper. I could not stop starring at this dress… I was just prancing and dancing in this dress. It is quite possible to say that it was ‘love at first sight’. To make a long story short, I walked in to buy one dress and I walked out with another. Is this a coincidence?!?! If I was not at this store at the exact same moment as the journalist, I am positive I would have bought ‘Dress A’. And, ‘Dress A’ might have been a mistake because I absolutely love ‘Dress B’ and I am thrilled that the newspaper story is going to document the moment that I found my wedding gown. 🙂

Day of Coordinator?? February 19, 2009

Today I had a consultation with a videographer, whom I decided to book. 🙂 As we were chatting about weddings, the one thing he highly recommended to me is a ‘Day of Coordinator’. Basically, you can hire someone for just the ‘Day of’, ‘weekend’ or ‘month’ of your wedding. I didn’t even know that this existed.

At my church, they provide a ‘wedding coordinator’ before, during and after the ceremony and the reception we booked has a ‘Food and Beverage Director’ who is absolutely amazing. I don’t think I have anything to worry about since both places provide extreme help, but, if I didn’t have them, it would be a definite possibility.

Coming from me, this is going to sound silly. BUT, I just realized that I love blogging!! hehe It is just so unlike me. But, I am really getting into the whole wedding planning process!! Should I be a wedding coordinator?? Something to think about!! 🙂

Wedding Planning Excitement!! :) February 1, 2009

Filed under: Thoughts Of The Day — The Lady Larkin @ 1:02 AM

I’m getting married in six months (tomorrow) and I am just SO excited!! I am definitely counting the days until we say ‘I Do’… Actually, that is a bit of an exaggeration. But, you get the drift. 🙂

Although some people may disagree, I feel like I am making a lot of progress on wedding plans. AND, believe it or not, I am actually enjoying it too!! To me, this is fun. This allows me to bring out the ‘creativity’ in me!!

For the past couple of weeks, I have been thoroughly researching vendors in the vincinity of Central Florida. My goal is to book a photographer, videographer and a band as well as pick the perfect wedding dress for myself. Then, I will begin to research florists and bakeries. It looks like I am on target, right?? Regardless if I have booked a vendor by a ‘suggested’ date, I can rest assured that when the decision is actually made, I know it was the ‘right’ decision as opposed to a ‘quick’ decision. 🙂

For now on, I am going to blog regularly. I want to ‘blog’ for myself… I want to make this a keepsake and print/bind it once the wedding planning is over. I feel that I am going to really appreciate this blog in the years to come. These are the ‘little things’ that may be easily forgotten in the years to come and I want to document them for myself so I can always look back and remember how fun it was to plan the wedding to a man (soon to be husband) that I truly adore, admire and love with all my heart. AND, who knows… Maybe I will show this blog to my future daughters when they will start to plan their wedding too. It might be fun for them to see and it might be funny to see how ‘old’ or ‘outdated’ it looks in their eyes. Oh, how exciting!! 🙂
